Yuan received his Ph.D. in developmental biology from Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine (SJTUSM) & Shanghai Institutes for Biological Sciences (SIBS), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Shanghai, China. Yuan joined the Peltz Lab as a postdoctoral scholar in Dec 2013. His research uses a multi-disciplinary approach to characterize the effect of genetic variation on developmental and disease processes. Recently, he developed a method to convert iPSC into hepatic organoids; and used a novel CRISPR-based genome editing method to characterize the pathogenetic effect of human disease-causing mutations.
